Meet the Doctors

Dr. Kirsten Wilgers graduated from the University of Florida in 1997 and then received her Doctorate from Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 2001. Born in Deland, Dr. Wilgers was a Total Vision patient for years before she earned her Doctorate and joined the New Smyrna Beach practice in 2001. She opened her practice in Port Orange in 2003. Dr. Wilgers is the owner of Total Vision of Port Orange and has worked there exclusively for the last 20 years. Her commitment to her patients and their families defines the practice and the entire staff has been carefully selected to continue this legacy. 

Dr. Wilgers has served as president of the Volusia County Optometric Society and is a member of the Florida Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. She is a Paul Harris Fellow and served in the Port Orange South Daytona Rotary for more than a decade. She was a Kappa Delta at the University of Florida, a member of Florida Blue Key, a member and sustainer of the Junior League of Daytona Beach, and a past board member of the Bert Fish Foundation. Dr. Wilgers is an active member of the Krewe of Amalee and the Port Orange Chamber of Commerce. Dr. Wilgers enjoys being a mentor to future doctors and being an active participant in her community. She loves being able to create lasting patient relationships based on trust and clear communication. She treasures the time she has with her two teenagers and spending time with her husband, Rhett.

Dr. Brian Peterson graduated from the University of Florida in 2008.  Dr. Peterson graduated from Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 2013.  

Following graduation, Dr. Peterson worked at Eye Centers of South Florida where he managed advanced ocular disease as well as pre-and postoperative care for cataract, oculoplastic, and glaucoma surgeries.  He also gained experience at South Florida Vision, where he specialized in primary care and worked with a busy optical.  

In 2018 Dr. Peterson worked as the solo practitioner at  Total Vision of Palm Coast, and he began working with Dr. Wilgers at Total Vision of Port Orange in 2022. 

In his free time, Dr. Peterson enjoys spending time with his wife and two young children.
